Control and coordination: outline question

Outline5 marksStandard

An experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of auxin on cell elongation in oat coleoptile segments. Segments of equal length (5.0 mm) were placed in either a control solution (buffer only) or a solution containing auxin (10⁻⁶ mol dm⁻³). The length of each segment was measured at intervals over 30 minutes. The results are shown in the table.

How this question is marked

5 marks, so the mark scheme is looking for about 5 separate creditworthy points. Making the same point twice in different words earns it once.

Outline means: Give the main points briefly. Less detail than describe, but every key step has to be there. One short line per step, in order. The marks are for coverage, not depth.
