Inheritance: determine question

Determine5 marksStandard

In humans, the TYR gene codes for the enzyme tyrosinase, which is involved in melanin production. Albinism is an autosomal recessive condition resulting from a non-functional tyrosinase. A man and a woman, both with normal pigmentation, are carriers of the albinism allele.

Determine the relationship between the TYR gene, tyrosinase, and the albino phenotype, and use a genetic diagram to show the genotypes of their possible offspring, indicating which genotype results in albinism.
