The kinetic theory treats gases as ideal. A real gas is kept at high pressure and low temperature, and an ideal gas is kept under the same conditions. Compare the two gases in terms of the volume of their particles, the forces between the particles, and how the pressure on the walls of the container arises.

States of matter: compare question

How this question is marked
5 marks, so the mark scheme is looking for about 5 separate creditworthy points. Making the same point twice in different words earns it once.
Compare means: Give similarities or differences between two things, and say which side each point belongs to. Write each point as a pair, for example: A is X, whereas B is Y. Two separate descriptions rarely earn the marks.
