Cell structure: outline question

Outline5 marksStandard

A student examines electron micrographs of two different cells. Cell A has a rigid outer layer, many disc-shaped structures that appear green, and a large central sac occupying most of the cell volume. Cell B has no rigid outer layer, contains many small vesicles scattered throughout the cytoplasm, and no green disc-shaped structures.

Outline five structural differences between a typical plant cell and a typical animal cell, using the observations from the micrographs to support your answer.

How this question is marked

5 marks, so the mark scheme is looking for about 5 separate creditworthy points. Making the same point twice in different words earns it once.

Outline means: Give the main points briefly. Less detail than describe, but every key step has to be there. One short line per step, in order. The marks are for coverage, not depth.
