Atomic structure: compare question

Compare5 marksStandard

Neon is a gas at room temperature and pressure. Naturally occurring neon contains three isotopes: X1020X210220Ne\ce{^{20}_{10}Ne}, X1021X210221Ne\ce{^{21}_{10}Ne} and X1022X210222Ne\ce{^{22}_{10}Ne}.

Compare the chemical and physical properties of these three isotopes of neon, and explain any differences in terms of the particles present in the atoms.

How this question is marked

5 marks, so the mark scheme is looking for about 5 separate creditworthy points. Making the same point twice in different words earns it once.

Compare means: Give similarities or differences between two things, and say which side each point belongs to. Write each point as a pair, for example: A is X, whereas B is Y. Two separate descriptions rarely earn the marks.
